Amarone, one of Italy's most distinguished wines,is said to have been named Amarone when an enthusiast exclaimed, "This is not an Amaro, it's an Amarone," upon tasting a forgotten barrel of Recioto.

The Amarone "Carlo Meroni," introduced from the 2015 harvest and available since 2022, embodies this rich history with a modern twist. A younger Amarone with at least 3.5 years of aging in 12.5 hl Slavonian oak barrels, it offers a refined structure and character worthy of its name.

The grapes are naturally dried in the fruit cellar from October to late January, losing about 30% in volume while remaining exceptionally healthy and free from mold. After pressing and destemming, the grapes undergo fermentation in steel tanks with about 60 days of maceration and frequent must pumping. Natural malolactic fermentation follows, completing in early summer.

From June, the wine is aged in 12.5 hl Slavonian oak barrels for approximately 3.5 years. It is then prepared for bottling and undergoes further refinement in glass before being released.
